What To Expect
Laguna Grande
Our famous two-hour bio bay kayak tour includes interesting interpretations of the reserve’s fragile ecology, star constellations, and a fascinating encounter with billions of bioluminescent organisms.
Watch how every stroke of your paddle leaves behind a glowing swirl of blue light and fish light up their path like shooting stars in the water. The adventure to Laguna Grande can only be described as magical, creating memories that will last a lifetime!
In order to best appreciate the bioluminescent phenomena, our tours run at sunset and early evening and it can get quite dark in the mangrove canal. Please be aware of this if you are afraid of darkness, a first-time kayaker, or have small kids.
Please keep in mind that this tour takes place in a natural environment and that the bioluminescent phenomenon, although rare, can be seen year-round. The intensity of brightness is unpredictable and can vary.

Good, not great.

Kayaking and stargazing was the best part. The bioluminescent water was barely visible - not at all what we expected. The organizers need to allow time to get food afterward. There are restaurants at the location but no time to eat. Or at an least stop for fast food.
Awesome experience!

Very friendly staff. The bay wasn’t that bioluminescent but the kayaking experience was fun! Staff really helped though and was very funny. Assured safety for everyone!
Not what I expected

What we liked, easy transportation to and from bay. Guides were very nice and easy to understand for us english only speaking tourists. What i did not like, no bathroom facilities open to use when we got there, bioluminescence was not what we expected, only viewable under a tarp when splashing your hand in water (not dark enough due to moon light to see otherwise), lots of mosquitos! Bug spray provided but did not help much. if you are prone to mosquito bites i would avoid. it was an average experience and i would not recommend spending your money to go see the bioluminescent bay. To me it was more of a kayak excursion through mangrove trees to the bay and back, i think you can get that experience somewhere less expensive.
Maybe not

Get ready for a workout it's alot of arm work. It's very dark and hard to see the guides with those 99cents store glow bracelets. Overall it was ok. The tour bus was very old and raggedy.
